The easiest way to add Yaplet to a WordPress site is the official Yaplet Live Chat plugin from the WordPress plugin directory. You give it your widget ID, and it adds the chat to every page of your site. It survives theme updates and needs no code. It works on any WordPress site, including WooCommerce shops, and on WordPress.com sites on the Personal plan or higher.
1. Install the Yaplet Live Chat plugin
In your WordPress admin, go to Plugins → Add Plugin and search for Yaplet. On the Yaplet Live Chat card, which says "By IG Services LLC" (the company behind Yaplet), click Install Now, then Activate.
WordPress may show "Untested with your version of WordPress" on the card. The plugin works on WordPress 7.1. After installing, it is listed as Yaplet Widget under Plugins → Installed Plugins.
2. Enter your widget ID
Go to Settings → Yaplet, paste your widget ID into the Widget ID field and click Save Changes.
To find your widget ID, go to Brand → (your brand) → Chat widget → Install in your Yaplet dashboard. If the tab asks where your website runs, choose WordPress / WooCommerce: it shows your widget ID with a copy button. Otherwise the ID is not a field of its own: it is the widgetId value inside the code shown there, and it is also the last part of that page's web address.
3. Check that the chat appears
Open your WordPress site in a new browser tab. The Yaplet chat button appears in the bottom-right corner. Click it to check that the chat opens.
For a step-by-step checklist, see Verify your installation.
Using Session Replays?
The plugin does not record Session Replays yet. If you switched them on in Yaplet (Chat widget → Features), install with WPCode instead, as described below.
Alternative: paste the code with WPCode
The free WPCode plugin (listed as "WPCode – Insert Headers and Footers") adds code to every page without touching your theme files:
- Go to Plugins → Add Plugin, search for WPCode, then install and activate it.
- In Yaplet, copy the code from Brand → (your brand) → Chat widget → Install. If the tab asks where your website runs, choose Other website. The code you paste must start with a
<script>line and end with a</script>line; if what you copied starts with!function (Yapletinstead, type<script>on a new line before it and</script>on a new line after it. - In WordPress, go to Code Snippets → Header & Footer, paste the code into the Footer box and click Save Changes.
You can also paste the code into a theme file, but a theme update or theme switch removes it. On block themes (the default today) the file editor is under Tools → Theme File Editor and there is no
footer.php, so the plugins above are the better choice.
Troubleshooting
- The chat doesn't appear after activation: clear your caching plugin's cache and any CDN cache, then reload.
- The wrong widget appears: check that the ID in Settings → Yaplet matches the
widgetIdon your Install tab. - Two chat buttons: deactivate any other chat plugin, and don't use the Yaplet plugin and the WPCode code at the same time.
- A security plugin blocks scripts: add these Yaplet addresses to its allowlist:
