News & Releases

News articles keep customers informed about announcements, updates and release notes. Unlike the other engagement types, which wait for a trigger, news articles are always available — in the widget's news tab and on a public news page at your brand's own web address.

Managing News Articles

The news articles management page displays a table of all news articles with the following information:

Table Columns

ColumnDescription
TitleThe article title, clickable to edit
WidgetThe chat widget the article belongs to (shown as avatar)
PublishedToggle to publish/unpublish the article
LanguageThe language of the article content
WeightDetermines display order (higher weight = higher in feed)
Created AtWhen the article was first created

Weight System

The weight column controls the order in which news articles appear in the widget's news feed. Articles with higher weight values appear at the top of the list. You can adjust the weight with the up and down arrow buttons in the row's actions column:

  • Weight higher — moves the article up in the feed
  • Weight lower — moves the article down in the feed
The weight system ensures important announcements appear at the top of the news feed, while older or less critical updates appear below.

Creating and Editing News Articles

Default Settings

When creating a new news article, you'll need to configure:

  • Title — the headline of your news article
  • Widget — which chat widget this article belongs to. A brand has at most one chat widget, so in practice you are choosing the brand whose news page and widget the article appears on
  • Language — the language of the article content
  • Published — whether the article is live (published articles are visible to visitors)

AI Content Tools

The AI Content assistant works from a single instruction. Describe the news article you want — or, when the article already has content, pick a quick action (Continue writing, Improve, Fix grammar, Shorten) and optionally add your own details on top.

Use Add context under the prompt to attach:

  • Knowledge base articles — include relevant help articles for context
  • News articles — reference other published news for consistency

The result appears as a preview first — a badge tells you whether accepting will replace the article or append to it, and you can refine the result with a follow-up instruction before anything is inserted.

Article Image

Upload a main image for your news article that will be displayed prominently:

  • Supported formats: WebP, PNG, JPEG
  • Display: appears at the top of the article and in news feed previews
  • Purpose: visual representation of your news content

Article Visibility

News articles appear in three places:

Widget News Tab

Articles are displayed in the widget's dedicated news section when:

  • Show on Navbar is switched on in the News Feed section at Brand → (your brand) → Chat widget → Features (that section's other field, Menu Title, only renames the tab)
  • The articles are published
  • The visitor opens the news tab
To switch on the news tab: Configure Widget Features

Widget Home Page

News articles can also appear on the widget's home screen when the Latest News card is added on the Chat widget's Home tab. It shows your recent articles directly on the widget's main screen.

To display news on your home page: Add Latest News Card

Public News Page

Published articles are also served on a standalone news page at your brand's own web address — https://<your brand address>.yaplet.help/s/news/<language>/<article id>. The address is set at Brand → (your brand) → Brand settings → Public address, and changing it moves every public link with it. The logo in that page's header is the Brand logo from Brand settings → General → Brand images; the chat widget's own logo is used only when no brand logo is set.

News articles differ from the other engagement types because they need no trigger — they are ongoing, always-accessible content for your customers.
