Visitors

The Visitors tab shows who is on your website right now, what each row tells you about them, and how to jump straight into their conversation.

Who appears in the list

The Visitors tab lists everyone currently browsing a page where your Yaplet chat widget is loaded — whether or not they've said anything. That's different from your Inbox, which only lists conversations waiting on a reply.

The number of people online right now sits in a green badge beside the title — the same count shown on the tab bar itself. No badge appears when nobody is online.

The list refreshes every 30 seconds, and again immediately whenever someone connects or disconnects. It's honest about the passage of time rather than tidy: once a visitor has shown up in the list during your session, they stay there even after they leave the site — their row just switches from "Online now" to "Last seen 12m ago" instead of disappearing. Leaving the tab and coming back clears stragglers like that out.

The phone only ever shows who is online right now. The dashboard can also look back over the last 24 hours or the last 7 days — see the table below.

Reading a row

Each row is one visitor:

  • Avatar, with a green dot while they're currently online.
  • Country flag, when Yaplet knows where they're browsing from.
  • Name or email, if either is known. An anonymous visitor has neither, so the row shows a short piece of their ID instead — there's nothing else to show.
  • Device icon — a phone, a tablet, or a computer.
  • Online now, or Last seen … — minutes, hours or days ago.
  • The address of the page they're on, when it's known.

Opening a conversation

Tap a visitor to open their conversation.

  • If that visitor has never started a conversation, nothing happens. Starting a fresh conversation with someone who's never written is a dashboard-only action — see Visitors in the dashboard docs.
  • If the conversation belongs to a brand you haven't been granted access to, nothing happens either. Brand access on the phone works exactly as it does on the web — see Organizations.
  • If a visitor has more than one conversation, a small count appears beside their name and tapping opens a picker instead. Each row names the channel it came through, the newest is at the top, and every one says whether a reply would actually reach the visitor — including the warning that an older chat-widget conversation won't be shown to the visitor again, so an answer typed there may never arrive. Only the ten most recent are listed.

Once you're in, everything works the way it's described in Conversations.
