First Steps

Get your Yaplet workspace up and running in minutes — let AI set it up from your website address, describe what you want to Copilot, or follow the step-by-step guides yourself.

The Fastest Way: AI Setup

You do not start from an empty workspace. Signing up already gives you a brand — one public identity with its own web address, chat widget, AI and knowledge base — and AI setup fills that brand in from your existing website.

Give it your website address and it will:

  • Fill in the brand's company name, description, website, language, icon and logo
  • Design the chat widget to match your site — colors, background style, greeting and welcome text, avatar and header logo
  • Read your site's most useful pages into your AI's knowledge, in the background
  • Write the chat's suggested opening questions — but only if your AI agent has none yet, so it never overwrites ones you wrote

It runs on Brand → Overview, and the very first time an owner signs in they are taken straight to that page with AI setup already open.

AI setup never touches a web address, and never renames your widget. Not the brand's public address, not the widget's. An earlier version rewrote the public address from whatever it read off the site, which silently moved customers' live knowledge-base URLs. It does not do that any more.

Running it again

From the second run onwards, AI setup asks what it is allowed to overwrite — one choice per part that already has content in it:

  • The brand's detailsKeep what's there (only empty fields get filled in) or Replace it (overwrite the company name, description, logo and language). This one defaults to Keep.
  • The widget's designKeep what's there (your colors and greeting stay exactly as they are) or Replace it (apply the new colors, background style and greeting). This one defaults to Replace.

On a brand-new brand there is nothing to protect, so neither choice appears and the first run simply applies everything.

How many runs you get

Organizations with no subscription get three AI setup runs in total, and the wizard prints how many are left ("2 free AI setup runs left on your plan."). Every launcher spends from that same pool:

  • The first-login wizard on the brand's Overview
  • + New brand at the bottom of the Brand section
  • Redesign with AI on the chat widget designer's Appearance tab
  • Fill from website in Brand settings
  • Smart import on the brand's Knowledge page

A preview that saves nothing still counts, because it still costs a model call and a browser job. Paid organizations are not capped at three — their runs are billed as normal AI usage instead. Everyone is limited to five runs a minute.

Set It Up by Describing It: Copilot

Yaplet also comes with Copilot, an AI assistant built right into your dashboard. Instead of clicking through settings pages and filling out forms, you can tell Copilot what you need in plain English and it handles the rest.

One conversation is all it takes. Open Copilot in the sidebar and say something like: "Set up my workspace: create a chat widget with my brand color #3B82F6, add a document about our product, and write three help articles about getting started." Copilot will do it all for you.

What Copilot Can Set Up for You

Brands & chat widgets

Create and customize your chat widget — colors, logo, welcome message, position, pre-chat forms — all through conversation. Asking for a widget quietly creates a brand to hold it.

AI knowledge

Add documents to your AI's knowledge and adjust how it behaves. There is nothing to connect: a brand has at most one Vex AI, and it answers from that brand's knowledge automatically.

Knowledge Base

Create a knowledge base, generate articles with AI, organize categories, and publish — all without leaving the chat panel.

Newsletter & Email

Set up email campaigns, build email automations, manage contacts and segments — describe what you want and Copilot builds it.

Engagement

Create banners, surveys, product tours, and announcements with targeting rules — just describe your goal.

Analytics

Ask about agent performance, AI stats, visitor data, and AI usage in plain language — no dashboards to navigate.

Try These Prompts to Get Started

Here are real prompts you can paste into Copilot right now:

Set up your chat widget

"Create a widget called Customer Support. Set the primary color to match my brand, add a welcome message saying 'Hi there! How can we help?', and give me the install code."

Teach your AI something

"Add a document to my AI explaining that we offer a 30-day money-back guarantee and free shipping on orders over $50, then switch the AI on."

Build a knowledge base

"Create a knowledge base called Support. Write and publish 3 articles: one about getting started, one about billing and payments, and one about account settings."

Launch a newsletter campaign

"Create a newsletter campaign called 'Welcome to Our Platform'. Generate a friendly welcome email with AI. Target all active subscribers."

Multi-step is no problem. Copilot can chain actions together. Ask it to "Set up my entire support system" and it will create the widget, add the knowledge documents and write the articles — all in one go.

Use External AI Tools with MCP

Already using AI tools like Claude Desktop, Cursor, VS Code, or Windsurf? Connect them to your Yaplet account through the MCP Server and manage everything from your preferred environment.

Your AI assistant gets full access to the same tools Copilot uses — create widgets, manage your AI, send campaigns, and more, all without opening the Yaplet dashboard.

Asking Copilot or an MCP client to point a widget at a different knowledge base is now only a bookkeeping change: the knowledge base you swap out keeps everything it has learned, and re-attaching it later is free. It used to delete the AI's only copy of that content.
