Install the Yaplet chat widget on any WordPress site with the official Yaplet Live Chat plugin (you only enter your widget ID), or paste the code with the WPCode plugin.
Overview
The Yaplet Live Chat plugin from the WordPress plugin directory adds the widget to every page of a WordPress site. You only give it your widget ID; there is no code to paste and nothing to edit in your theme. It works on any WordPress site, including WooCommerce shops, and on WordPress.com sites on the Personal plan or higher (WordPress.com allows plugins on every paid plan).
Install the Plugin
Find your widget ID
In your Yaplet dashboard, go to Brand → Chat widget and open the Install tab. If the tab asks where your website runs, choose WordPress / WooCommerce: it shows your widget ID with a copy button. Otherwise your widget ID is the widgetId value inside the code shown there (var widgetId = "…"). It is also the last part of that page's web address (/dashboard/widgets/<widget id>).
Install and activate the plugin
In your WordPress admin, go to Plugins → Add Plugin and search for Yaplet. On the Yaplet Live Chat card (it shows "By IG Services LLC", the company behind Yaplet), click Install Now, then Activate.
Enter your widget ID
Go to Settings → Yaplet, paste your widget ID into the Widget ID field and click Save Changes.
Check your site
Open your site in a new browser tab. The Yaplet chat button appears in the bottom-right corner. Click it to check that the chat opens.
Alternative: Paste the Code with WPCode
The free WPCode plugin (listed as "WPCode – Insert Headers and Footers") adds code to every page without editing theme files.
- Go to Plugins → Add Plugin, search for WPCode, then install and activate it.
- In Yaplet, copy the code from Brand → Chat widget → Install. If the tab asks where your website runs, choose Other website. The code you paste must start with a
<script>line and end with a</script>line; if what you copied starts with!function (Yapletinstead, type<script>on a new line before it and</script>on a new line after it. - In WordPress, go to Code Snippets → Header & Footer, paste the code into the Footer box and click Save Changes.
Pasting the code into theme files also works, but a theme update or theme switch removes it. On block themes (the default today) the file editor is under Tools → Theme File Editor, and there is no footer.php, so the plugin routes are the better choice.
Troubleshooting
- The chat doesn't appear — clear your caching plugin's cache and any CDN cache, then reload.
- Wrong widget — check that the ID in Settings → Yaplet matches the
widgetIdin your Install tab. - Two chat buttons — deactivate any other chat plugin, and don't use the plugin and the WPCode code at the same time.
- A security plugin blocks scripts — allow
