Unsupported platforms
Google Sites, Jimdo's Website Builder and GoDaddy's website builder can't show the Yaplet chat widget. Why, and what to do instead.
Overview
The Yaplet chat button floats in the bottom-right corner of every page. For that, a website builder must let you add code that runs on every page, outside any box on the page — usually a setting called something like custom code, header code or tracking code. A builder that only accepts code inside a block on one page is not enough: the chat would be stuck inside that block, on that page only.
Some builders allow your own code only on paid plans. If you can't find a code setting, check what your plan includes first.
The builders below can't run the widget today.
Google Sites
Google Sites accepts your own code only as an embed: Insert → Embed → Embed code. That puts the code in a block on one page, or turns a whole page into the embed. Google's help describes no setting that adds code to every page, so the chat can't float on the site.
Jimdo Website Builder
Jimdo's help states that in the Jimdo Website Builder you cannot add custom HTML, CSS, JavaScript or external widgets. A site whose Jimdo address ends in jimdosite.com is on the Website Builder.
Jimdo's other product, Jimdo Creator, does allow your own code: Jimdo's help points to Menu → Settings → Edit Head, which adds code to every page. Jimdo recommends Creator to anyone who needs custom code.
GoDaddy's Website Builder
GoDaddy's website builder (Websites + Marketing) takes custom code only in an HTML section added to a page. GoDaddy's help explains that the section shows the code inside an iframe (a box), so the chat would stay inside that section instead of floating. The site Settings only offer fixed connections such as Google Analytics and the Facebook Pixel, with no field for other code.
What You Can Do Instead
- Move to a plan or a builder that allows code on every page, then follow that builder's install guide.
- Link to your Yaplet help center. Your brand's public knowledge base at
your-address.yaplet.helpshows your chat button on every page, as long as the brand has a chat widget. Put a knowledge base on that address, then add a normal link or button on your site, such as "Help" or "Chat with us", that opens it. See Knowledge Base.
