Carrd

Install the Yaplet chat widget on a Carrd site with a hidden Embed element. Needs the Pro Standard or Pro Plus plan.

Overview

Carrd's Embed element can place your own code on a site. A hidden Embed with the Yaplet code, set to Body End, puts the chat widget on the site. No developer is needed.

Embedding your own code needs Carrd's Pro Standard or Pro Plus plan. It isn't part of Pro Lite or the free plan.

Installation Steps

Copy your Yaplet code

In your Yaplet dashboard, go to Brand → Chat widget and open the Install tab. If the tab asks where your website runs, choose Other website. Copy the code with the copy button on the code block.

If the code you copied starts with !function (Yaplet, it has no <script> tags around it yet. Carrd's Embed element takes HTML, so you add the tags when you paste it.

Add an Embed element

Open your site in the Carrd builder. Click Add Element, then Embed.

Set up the embed

Set Type to Code and paste the code into Code. The code must start with a <script> line and end with a </script> line. If what you copied starts with !function (Yaplet instead, type <script> on a new line before it and </script> on a new line after it. The finished code looks like this:

<script>
!function (Yaplet, t, i) { … your Yaplet code … }();
</script>

Optionally set Label (for example Yaplet chat). Set Style to Hidden and choose Body End. A hidden embed works from anywhere in the site, so you can move it to the very end.

Publish and check your site

The Embed element shows nothing in the builder. Publish the site, open it in a new browser tab and reload it. The Yaplet chat button appears in the bottom-right corner. Click it to check that the chat opens.

Troubleshooting

  • You are looking at the builder — embeds run only on the published site. Publish, then open the live site.
  • The code shows up as text on the site — the <script> tags are missing. Add them in the embed's Code and publish again.
  • The site comes up blank after publishing — a mistake in embedded code can stop the whole site from loading. Clear the embed's Code, copy the code again from the Install tab, make sure it starts with a <script> line and ends with a </script> line, and publish again.
  • Carrd won't let you use your own code — the plan needs to be Pro Standard or Pro Plus.
  • You still see the old version of the site — Carrd says this is usually a cached copy. Do a hard refresh (Ctrl + Shift + R on Windows, Cmd + Shift + R on a Mac) or clear the browser cache.
The Installation page explains what the code does and lists every other platform guide.
