Yaplet Agent View and Chats
The agent view is Yaplet on a full page of its own: a home screen with today's numbers and what needs you, a list of all your chats, and plenty of room to talk. Learn how to get there, what is on each screen and how the chat list works.
Overview
The agent view is Yaplet, the assistant inside your dashboard, on a page of its own at /dashboard/agent. On the left is the list of your chats. On the right is either the home (a greeting, today's numbers, what needs you, ideas and one big box to ask anything) or one open chat. It is the same Yaplet and the same chats as in the side panel, with more room.
Every member who holds the Yaplet assistant permission can use it.
Getting There and Back
You go into the agent view and out of it like this:
| To do this | Do this |
|---|---|
| Open the agent view | Press Agent mode: make Yaplet big, the enlarge button in the side panel's header. The same chat opens large. |
| Start in the agent view | Set First screen to Yaplet under your account menu → Settings → Yaplet. The default is Dashboard. |
| Go back to the dashboard on a window under 1024 px | Press the ✕ at the top right. You return to the last dashboard page you were on. If there was none, you land on Overview, or on the inbox if you lack the Overview permission. The side panel stays closed and Yaplet's blob is back in the corner. |
| Go back and keep talking | Press Side panel at the top right of the agent view. You return to the page you came from, with the side panel open on this same chat. |
The Side panel button shows on windows 1024 px wide and up. There, choosing any other page in the sidebar does the same thing: the page opens with the side panel on your chat. On narrower windows the page opens on its own, and the blob waits in the corner.
The sidebar stays as you left it, open or collapsed. Collapsed to its icon rail, the Ask Yaplet card shrinks to a small blob tile with your unread count on it. While the agent view is open the blob in the corner is hidden.
After you sign in, the Overview opens by default. Set First screen to Yaplet under your account menu → Settings → Yaplet to land in the agent view instead. The Yaplet Speaks First article covers both that setting and the messages Yaplet writes first.
The Home
Greeting and Today's Line
Yaplet greets you by your first name: Good morning from 5:00 to 11:59, Good afternoon until 17:59, Good evening the rest of the time. Under it, one line sums up today, counted from midnight your time. It is a fixed sentence written without AI:
- A quiet day: A calm day so far. Here are a few ideas if you have a minute. (the second sentence only when there are ideas to show). This shows when there are at most 5 new chats, none waiting for a reply and no campaign sent.
- Anything more: it lists what happened, such as So far today: 3 new chats and one campaign went out. With more than 5 new chats it starts A busy day: instead. Chats waiting for a reply get a sentence of their own, 4 chats in the inbox are waiting for a reply., because that count covers every waiting chat, however old, not only today's.
- Without Inbox and Campaigns access, there are no numbers to sum up, so the line only says how many new chats Yaplet wrote (3 new from Yaplet) or All caught up. Ask me anything.
Today's Numbers
Under the greeting, one line shows today's numbers. Each number is a link that opens its page, and a number appears only when your permissions cover it.
- new chats — chats started today in which a visitor wrote at least one message. Opens the Inbox. Needs the Inbox permission.
- waiting for a reply — unassigned chats waiting for an answer, however old. The number turns orange above zero. Opens the Unassigned inbox view. Needs the Inbox permission.
- campaigns sent — campaigns that have gone out today. Campaigns scheduled for later do not count. Opens Campaigns. Needs Newsletter → Campaigns.
- new from Yaplet — unread chats that Yaplet wrote first. Opens the newest one. Needs Yaplet speaks first.
If today's numbers cannot be loaded, the numbers and the Needs you now box below are left out for now.
What Yaplet Can Do on This Page
When the home has a page to talk about, a box headed On (the page), I can comes next, with up to four buttons for what Yaplet can do there. In the side panel that is the page you are on. In the agent view the box appears when you opened it with Agent mode: make Yaplet big: the page you came from is carried along, and the box is headed From (the page), I can, with a ✕ to forget the page. While a page is carried along, your requests in the agent view are about that page. Without a page, the box is left out.
Needs You Now
This box lists up to three things that need a person, always in the order of the table. Each row has an outlined button. Members whose access is limited to some brands see only items from those brands, and only chats from the widgets they may see.
| What it says | Needs this permission | Button |
|---|---|---|
| 3 chats are waiting for a reply. | Inbox | Show them (Show it for one chat) opens the Unassigned inbox view |
| An autopilot issue waits for your approval. and the autopilot's name | Newsletter Autopilot | Sum it up starts a chat in which Yaplet summarizes that issue |
| The product feed "…" stopped. | Content sources | Try again now starts a chat in which Yaplet retries the feed, after you confirm on a Confirm card |
| The chat widget "…" hasn't loaded on any website yet. | Brands & chat widgets | Help me install it starts a chat in which Yaplet helps you put the widget on your site |
Yaplet's waiting notes (see the Yaplet Speaks First article) join this box too: each note is a row with a button (Read it, or the note's own button), and page introductions share one row, Intros waiting:.
When nothing needs you, the box says Nothing needs you right now. With Yaplet speaks first it adds I'll write when something comes up.
Ideas
Ideas for this morning (or afternoon, or evening) shows four buttons at a time. Up to two of them are things Yaplet can do on the last pages you opened in the sidebar of this workspace, remembered in this browser and marked with the page name, such as Chat widget: …. The rest come from up to twelve things Yaplet can do on pages your permissions cover. They change with the day and the time of day, so the home does not look the same twice. The list ends with the two starters Explore Yaplet: what can it do for me? and Fix a problem: find what is missing or failing. The circular arrow (Other ideas) shows the next four. Each button starts a new chat with that request.
The Ask Box
The box at the bottom of the home says Ask Yaplet anything…. Type a question and press Enter, or press the arrow button. With a mouse or trackpad, the cursor waits in the box when the home opens; on a phone or tablet the keyboard stays down until you tap it.
- Every question you send from the home, and every button on the home that asks Yaplet something, starts a new chat and takes you into it. The home never adds to an old chat. To carry on with an old one, pick it from the chat list.
- While Yaplet is still answering in your last chat, those buttons are paused and a line under the box says Yaplet is still answering in your last chat. You can ask again in a moment.
- The home's box is a single line, so it has no line breaks. Once you are in a chat, the message box grows with your text: Enter sends and Shift+Enter starts a new line.
The Chat List
On windows 768 px wide and up, the list sits on the left, with New chat at the top. Chats are grouped, and a group with no chats is not shown. With no chats at all it says No chats yet.
| Group | What is in it |
|---|---|
| Pinned | Chats you pinned, the most recently pinned first. After them come the chats Yaplet keeps by subject, such as Billing, a sending domain, an autopilot or the one-week check-in, newest message first. Those need Yaplet speaks first. |
| Today, Yesterday, Earlier | All other chats, by the date of their last message. |
The icon in front of each title tells you who started the chat:
- A speech bubble means you started it.
- The outline of the Yaplet blob means Yaplet wrote first, or Yaplet keeps the chat. It needs Yaplet speaks first.
- An orange icon and a bold title mean the chat is unread. Opening it marks it as read.
- A small pin after the title means you pinned it.
Point at a row (on a touch screen it is always there) to see its ⋯ menu with Rename, Pin chat or Unpin chat, and Delete chat…. It is the same menu as in the side panel. How renaming, pinning and deleting work is explained under Your Chats in the Yaplet Assistant article. Rename on a row opens that chat with its title ready to edit.
Inside a Chat
Above the conversation, the header shows:
- The Yaplet blob, which thinks while Yaplet writes and shows a short "done" animation when it finishes.
- The chat's title. Click it to rename the chat.
- Who started it, under the title: Yaplet wrote first or You started this chat. The first needs Yaplet speaks first. When a page was carried along from the side panel, From (the page) follows, with a ✕ to forget the page.
- The ⋯ menu with the chat actions. With Yaplet speaks first it also holds the Yaplet tips choice (On, Fewer (urgent only), Off), which the Yaplet Speaks First article explains.
- The Side panel button, on windows 1024 px wide and up.
The conversation below works as it does in the side panel, in a wide centered column: step lines, Confirm cards, next-step buttons and thumbs are all described in the Yaplet Assistant article.
The open chat is in the page address, /dashboard/agent/ followed by the chat's id. You can reload the page and stay in the same chat, or bookmark it. Chats are private, so the address opens only for you. If a chat cannot be opened, you see This chat couldn't be opened. and land on the home.
The Working Words
While Yaplet writes an answer, a line under the conversation says it is busy, in three stages:
| After | The line reads |
|---|---|
| Right away | Thinking… |
| About 4 seconds | Looking into it… |
| About 10 seconds | Still working on it…, after which the last two take turns every 6 seconds |
These words only say that Yaplet is busy. What it is doing shows in the step lines, described in the Yaplet Assistant article. The blob in the header thinks along, and the Ask Yaplet card in the sidebar reads Yaplet is working.
On Narrow Windows and Phones
- Under 1024 px the Side panel button is not shown. Use the ✕ at the top right of the chat or the home to leave.
- Under 768 px the chat list is hidden. The top bar has the chat's title, a chats button that shows your unread count, the ⋯ menu and the ✕ that leaves. Tap the chats button to slide the list in from the left.
- The home works the same on a phone; the numbers wrap onto more than one line when they do not fit.
