Chat messages are proactive outreach elements that automatically send personalized messages to your website visitors through the chat widget. They appear as incoming chat messages from your bot or agent, creating natural conversational opportunities to engage visitors based on their behavior and context.

How Chat Messages Work

Chat messages are delivered through your existing chat widget, appearing as automated messages that visitors receive while browsing your site. Unlike banners that overlay the page content, messages integrate seamlessly into the chat experience, making them feel like natural parts of the conversation flow.

Message Settings

Basic Configuration

Name
string required
A descriptive title for your message used in the dashboard.
Widget
string required
Select which widget this message belongs to. The widget determines which website the message will appear on.
Published
boolean
Toggle whether the message is active and can be sent to visitors.
Content
string required
The main text content of the chat message, supporting plain text formatting.
Weight
number
Determines message priority when multiple messages qualify for the same visitor. Higher weight messages are sent first.

Message Actions

Configure what happens when visitors interact with your message through the chat interface:

Start Conversation

Opens a full conversation in the chat widget. Optionally select a specific workflow to begin the conversation automatically.

Open Widget Home

Opens the widget's home screen, showing available options like chat, feedback forms, or knowledge base.

Action Customization

For conversation actions, you can optionally select a specific chatbot workflow to start when visitors reply to the message.

Preview & Testing

Use the built-in preview feature to see how your chat message will appear in the widget. The preview shows the message bubble styled with your widget's colors and branding.
