Meta Integration
Connect your Facebook and Instagram pages, assign each one to a brand, and handle Messenger and Instagram conversations from your Yaplet inbox.
What is Meta Integration?
The Meta integration bridges your Facebook Messenger and Instagram accounts directly into your Yaplet inbox. This unified approach lets you manage all customer conversations from a single dashboard, regardless of whether they started on Facebook or Instagram.
Key Benefits
Unified Inbox
All social media conversations appear alongside your website chats in one centralized inbox.
Multi-Platform Support
Handle conversations from both Facebook Messenger and Instagram in the same interface.
Seamless Agent Experience
Your agents can respond to social media messages just like any other chat conversation.
Native Platform Delivery
Customer responses are delivered directly through the platform they contacted you from.
How It Works
When customers message you through Facebook Messenger or Instagram, those conversations automatically appear in your Yaplet inbox. Your agents can respond using the same chat interface they use for website visitors, but the responses are delivered natively through the respective social media platform.
Conversation Flow
- Customer initiates contact through Facebook Messenger or Instagram
- Message appears in Yaplet inbox alongside other conversations
- Agent responds using the Yaplet chat interface
- Response is delivered directly to the customer's social media platform
One choice per page: the brand
Each connected page is assigned to a brand, and that single choice does two things at once. The page publishes as that brand in AI Social Posting, and its Messenger and Instagram messages land in that brand's inbox. The dropdown's own helper text says it plainly:
This page publishes as this brand, and its Messenger and Instagram messages land in that brand's Inbox. Without a brand, incoming messages are dropped and the page cannot post.
A callout at the top of the page points at where the posting side is configured: "Every post belongs to a brand. Which of these pages post as which brand — along with that brand's writing voice, image style and watermark — is set in Brand settings → Connected pages." Its Open Brand settings button takes you straight there.
Built-in Conversation Features
Once a page is assigned to a brand that has a chat widget, Yaplet automatically upgrades its Messenger and Instagram conversations with the same conveniences visitors know from the chat widget — no extra configuration needed:
- Human/AI switching menu — every conversation gets a persistent chat menu with "Talk to a human" and "Talk to the AI bot", so visitors can reach an agent (or return to the AI) with a tap instead of having to phrase the request in words.
- "Talk to a human" quick reply — once a visitor has sent enough messages in a short window, AI answers carry a tappable "Talk to a human" chip. The threshold is the Show 'Talk to Support' Button After setting at Brand → Vex → Personality → Agent Handoff, and it counts messages sent in the last 5 minutes.
- Conversation starters as ice breakers — the brand's top 4 active conversation starters, set at Brand → Vex → Starters, appear as tappable opening questions when someone opens a new conversation.
- Get Started greeting — new Messenger conversations show Meta's Get Started button; tapping it makes the AI introduce itself.
- Typing & read indicators — visitors see their message marked as seen and a typing indicator while the AI prepares its reply, and the inbox shows when a visitor has read your messages.
- Ratings — the inbox Ask for rating action delivers tappable 1–5 star options in Messenger and Instagram conversations.
- Tappable choices in workflows — Custom Workflow dropdown questions become quick-reply buttons (up to 13 options) instead of a typed numbered list.
- Product cards — AI product recommendations arrive as a swipeable card carousel (image, price, and a View button — up to 10 cards) alongside the plain links in the answer. The same cards render for your team in the dashboard inbox, so you see what the visitor was shown.
- Full attachment support — agent replies forward every attachment natively: multiple images, video, audio, and files.
- Message edit sync — when a visitor edits a message, the copy in your inbox updates too.
Connecting Your Meta Pages
Follow these steps to connect your Facebook and Instagram pages to Yaplet.
Step 1: Access Meta Integration Settings
Navigate to Settings → Organization settings → Meta integration in your Yaplet dashboard.
Step 2: Initiate Facebook Connection
Click the "Add Facebook pages" button to start the connection process.
Step 3: Authorize Access
In the Facebook authorization dialog:
- Select the Facebook pages you want to connect
- Grant the necessary permissions for messaging
- Confirm the connection
Step 4: Assign each page to a brand
After authorization, your connected pages appear as cards in the Meta integration settings. For each page:
Pick a brand
Each card has a Brand dropdown, showing Select a brand until you choose one. Pick the brand this page belongs to.
Check the platform badges
The card's badges confirm which platforms are wired up — Facebook, Instagram (when the page has one), and Posting: enabled or Posting: needs reconnect. If posting needs a reconnect, a Reconnect to enable posting button appears on the card.
The page goes Active
The badge in the card footer flips from Inactive to Active as soon as a brand is assigned, and messages start arriving.
Step 5: Test the Integration
Send a test message to your connected page to ensure messages are routing correctly to your Yaplet inbox.
Managing Connected Pages
Viewing Connected Pages
The Meta integration page displays all your connected Facebook pages in a grid, showing:
- Page name and the date it was added
- Connected platforms (Facebook Messenger, Instagram) and the posting status
- The brand it's assigned to, and whether the page is Active or Inactive
Moving a page to another brand
You can reassign a page at any time using the Brand dropdown on its card. If the page's current brand runs Autopilot, Yaplet asks you to confirm first — "The '{brand}' brand runs Autopilot on this page. Moving it to another brand means its scheduled posts go out as that brand instead. Continue?" — because that brand's scheduled posts would start going out under a different name.
Removing Pages
To disconnect a page:
- Click the trash icon on the page card
- Confirm the removal when prompted
- The page will be disconnected and removed from your Yaplet account
Troubleshooting
Common Issues
Messages not appearing in inbox:
- Verify the page is assigned to a brand, and that the brand has a chat widget — without one there is nowhere for messages to land
- Check that Facebook permissions are still valid
- Ensure your Yaplet subscription includes Meta integration
Authorization failed:
- Try reconnecting the page through the settings
- Verify you have admin access to the Facebook page
- Check that Facebook Business verification is complete
Instagram not connected:
- Instagram Business accounts must be linked to a Facebook page
- Ensure the Instagram account is properly connected to your Facebook page in Meta Business Manager
