User Settings
Personal profile, preferences, and account settings accessible from the user dropdown menu.
User Dropdown
The User Dropdown is located at the bottom of the dashboard sidebar. It gives you quick access to your profile, status controls, shift management, team switching, and account settings.
Click your avatar and username at the bottom-left of the sidebar to open the dropdown menu.
What's in the Dropdown
Profile Info
Your username, email, and avatar are shown at the top of the dropdown.
Dark Mode
Toggle between light and dark mode directly from the dropdown.
Balance & Top Up
View your current account balance and add funds with the Top up button. Your balance is automatically applied to upcoming invoices.
Online Status
Switch between Online and Offline to control whether you receive new chats.
Shift Management
If your organization uses Shifts (the feature previously called Time Management — the menu entry is now Team → Shifts), the dropdown includes shift controls.
Starting a Shift
Select Start shift from the dropdown and choose from your available shift types. If the shift type requires you to be online, you'll be prompted to set your status first.
Ending a Shift
Select End shift to clock out. If you're currently online, you'll be asked whether you'd like to go offline as well.
Which shift types you may start is checked on the server, not only in the dropdown. Picking one you have not been assigned is refused, so the restriction is real rather than a filtered list.
Switching Teams
If you belong to multiple organizations, use the Team submenu to switch between them. Your current team is shown next to your username.
Users with the Organization permission will also see a Manage team link that navigates to the organization settings page.
Sign Out
Select Sign out at the bottom of the dropdown to log out of your account.
Settings Modal
Open the settings modal by clicking Settings in the user dropdown. The modal is organized into three cards: a Profile card, a Notifications card for desktop alerts, and an Account card for email and password management.
Profile Card
The profile card lets you update your display name, avatar, and notification preferences in one place.
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Avatar | Hover over your profile picture and click to upload a new one. Accepted formats: WEBP, PNG, and JPEG. |
| Display name | Your username visible to teammates and customers. |
| Notification volume | Slider (0–100) to control notification sound loudness. A preview sound plays as you adjust. Click the speaker icon to mute/unmute. |
Click Save to apply your profile changes.
Browser Notifications
The Notifications card carries one switch — Browser notifications on this device — which controls whether your operating system shows you a popup when a visitor writes while the dashboard is behind another window.
The switch is per browser, not per account: turning it on here does nothing for the browser on your other computer, and signing in somewhere else starts from off. The hint line under it tells you where you stand:
| Hint | What it means |
|---|---|
| Turn this on to be told about new messages… | Off. Flip the switch and allow the browser's permission request. |
| You get a desktop notification when a visitor writes… | On. A Send test button appears next to the switch — it sends a real notification to this browser so you can confirm it arrives. |
| Blocked by your browser | The permission was refused earlier and Yaplet cannot ask again. Allow notifications from the icon at the left of the address bar, reload, then switch it on. |
| Not available in this browser | That browser cannot show desktop notifications at all — Safari on an iPhone or iPad in a normal tab, for example. |
This card is also the way back if you dismissed the prompt in the Inbox with Don't ask again — the card there never returns, but this switch always works. Full behavior, including who gets notified for which conversation, is covered by Desktop Notifications under Dashboard → Inbox.
Email Address
Your current email is shown in the Account card. How you can change it depends on how you signed up:
- Email/password accounts — Click Change to start a secure email change flow. You'll need to enter your new email, confirm your current password, and then verify with a 6-digit code sent to the new address.
- OAuth accounts (Google) — Your email is managed by your identity provider and cannot be changed from Yaplet.
Password
If you signed up with email and password, you can update your password from the Account card:
- Click Change next to the password field
- Enter your current password for verification
- Set a new password (minimum 8 characters) and confirm it
- Click Update password
