Strikingly
Install the Yaplet chat widget on a Strikingly site with the Footer Code setting. Needs a Pro or VIP plan.
Overview
Strikingly's custom code setting has a Footer Code box that Strikingly suggests for chat tools. Pasting the Yaplet code there puts the chat widget on the site's pages. Blog posts have their own Footer Code box, so they need the code a second time.
Installation Steps
Copy your Yaplet code
In your Yaplet dashboard, go to Brand → Chat widget and open the Install tab. If the tab asks where your website runs, choose Other website. Copy the code with the copy button on the code block.
Strikingly's custom code boxes take HTML, so the code must sit between a <script> line and a </script> line. With Other website chosen, the code already has these lines. If the tab didn't ask, the code is plain JavaScript that starts with !function (Yaplet, and you add the lines when you paste it.
Open Custom Code in Strikingly
In the Strikingly site editor, click Settings → Show Advanced → Custom Code.
Paste the code into Footer Code
Paste the code into the Footer Code box. It must start with a <script> line and end with a </script> line; if what you copied starts with !function (Yaplet instead, type <script> on a new line before it and </script> on a new line after it. Then save your changes. The box should look like this:
<script>
!function (Yaplet, t, i) { … your Yaplet code … }();
</script>
Publish and check your site
Publish your site; saving alone doesn't put the code on the live site. Open the site in a new browser tab and reload it. The Yaplet chat button appears in the bottom-right corner. Click it to check that the chat opens.
Blog Posts
Strikingly doesn't add the site's custom code to blog posts. To show the chat there too, go to Settings → Blog → Blog Settings, scroll down to the Footer Code box, paste the same code with its <script> lines, save, and publish again.
Troubleshooting
- The code shows up as text on the site — the
<script>tags are missing. Add them in Footer Code, save, and publish again. - There is no Custom Code — custom code needs a Pro or VIP plan.
- The chat is missing on blog posts only — add the code to the blog's own Footer Code box as well (see above).
- You saved but didn't publish — publish the site so the change goes live.
- You still see the old version of the site — reload without the browser cache, or open the site in a private window.
