Greeting, Welcome & Team Display

Customize the greeting text, welcome message, animated placeholder, and team avatars that visitors see at the top of your widget's home screen.

Greeting Message

The greeting message is a short, friendly line that appears above the welcome headline.

  • Default: "Hi there 👋"
  • Where to change: Brand → Chat widget → Home → Header Greeting
Keep it short and warm — one line works best. Emojis are welcome here.

Welcome Message

The welcome message is the bold headline below the greeting. It's the largest text on the home screen and the first thing that catches the visitor's eye.

  • Default: "How can we help?"
  • Where to change: Brand → Chat widget → Home → Welcome Message

The welcome message fades in with a smooth animation when the widget opens, giving it a polished feel.

Both the greeting and welcome message use the Header Text color. It sits on the Appearance tab of the same Chat widget screen, inside the Sub Colors panel of the Home Screen section — that panel is collapsed by default and its colors are generated for you, so expand it before you can change the shade.

Ask Me Anything Placeholder

If you've added an ASK card to your home screen, visitors see a text input with a typing animation that spells out "Ask me anything..." character by character. This draws attention to the input field and encourages interaction.

The animation starts automatically when the widget opens and types at a natural pace.

Team Avatars

You can display up to 3 team member avatars in a row above the greeting. Avatars overlap slightly for a compact, friendly look.

How It Works

  • Avatars are pulled from your team members' profile pictures
  • Online agents appear first — the system prioritizes showing agents who are currently available
  • Up to 3 avatars are displayed, even if you have more team members
  • Only agents who have been granted access to this widget's brand are shown — if someone has no access, their avatar (and their online/offline status) is hidden. Owners and admins always appear. Access is granted per brand, in the Brand access section of the Organization page — open it from your avatar menu at the top right, Manage team, since it has no entry in the left menu — or in the Inbox access list on the Chat widget's Features tab. Both write the same grant. This keeps visitors from seeing team members who cannot actually answer them.

Showing or Hiding the Team

Toggle team avatars on or off with Show Team, on the Chat widget's Home tab.

When enabled, visitors see a small row of faces before the greeting, creating a personal, human touch. When disabled, the greeting and welcome message appear on their own.

Make sure your team members have profile pictures uploaded. Agents without a photo will show a default avatar silhouette.

Online / Offline Status

While the home screen team avatars don't show individual online dots, the widget uses online status elsewhere to set expectations:

  • In the chat header, the assigned agent's avatar shows a green (online) or red (offline) status dot
  • Before a chat starts, the widget checks if any agents are online and displays the overall team status accordingly
  • When status display is disabled in your widget settings, the indicator is hidden entirely

The online status is determined in real-time based on your team members' actual presence in the dashboard.
