Ghost
Install the Yaplet chat widget on a Ghost site with Ghost's built-in code injection. No theme editing, no integration to install.
Overview
Ghost has a built-in code injection setting that adds code to every page of a site. Pasting the Yaplet code into the site footer puts the chat widget on the whole site. No theme editing or integration is needed.
Installation Steps
Copy your Yaplet code
In your Yaplet dashboard, go to Brand → Chat widget and open the Install tab. If the tab asks where your website runs, choose Other website. Copy the code with the copy button on the code block.
If the code you copied starts with !function (Yaplet, it has no <script> tags around it yet. Ghost needs those tags, so you add them when you paste the code.
Open code injection in Ghost
In Ghost Admin, go to Settings → Advanced → Code Injection. There are two boxes: Site Header and Site Footer.
Paste the code into Site Footer
In Site Footer, paste the Yaplet code. The code must start with a <script> line and end with a </script> line. If what you copied starts with !function (Yaplet instead, type <script> on a new line before it and </script> on a new line after it. The finished code looks like this:
<script>
(your Yaplet code)
</script>
Ghost adds the Site Footer code at the end of every page, which is where Ghost recommends putting JavaScript.
Save
Save your changes. There is no separate publish step: the code is live on the site as soon as it is saved.
Check your site
Open the site in a new browser tab and reload it. The Yaplet chat button appears in the bottom-right corner. Click it to check that the chat opens.
Troubleshooting
- There is no Code Injection under Advanced — in some Ghost versions it sits directly under Settings. If you can't open the settings at all, your Ghost role doesn't allow it: Contributors, Authors and Editors can't change site settings. Ask an Administrator.
- The code shows up as text at the bottom of the pages — the
<script>tags are missing. Add them as shown above and save again. - The chat shows on one post only — the code went into that post's own code injection, in the post settings. Move it to the site-wide Site Footer.
- You still see the old page — the browser or the site's cache may show an older copy. Reload, or open the site in a private window.
