Getting Started
Install the Yaplet app on your iPhone or Android phone, sign in with your existing account, turn on notifications, and keep the app up to date.
Install the app
The Yaplet app is for your support team — the people replying to chats — not for your customers. Customers talk to you through the chat widget on your website; there's nothing for them to install.
The app uses the same account and the same organization as the web dashboard — there's nothing separate to set up.
- Enter your email and password, or tap Continue with Google.
- Tap Forgot password? to have reset instructions sent to your email.
- There's no sign-up screen inside the app. Tapping Create an account opens
yaplet.com/registerin your phone's browser instead.
Allow notifications
Right after you sign in for the first time, the app asks for permission to send notifications. If you allow it, this phone is registered against your profile so new messages can reach it. If you decline, you can still use the app — you just won't get pushes on this device.
See Notifications for the full rules on who gets notified for a given conversation.
Keeping the app up to date
You'll see one of three prompts, depending on the size of the update:
| Prompt | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Update ready | A small update has already downloaded in the background. | Tap Restart now — it applies in seconds, no store visit needed. Later postpones it. |
| New version available | A real new version is published in the App Store or Play Store. On Android this can appear as Google Play's own update sheet instead of this prompt. | Tap Update now to open the store, or Later to postpone. |
| Update required | Your installed version is older than the oldest one Yaplet's servers still support. This screen can't be dismissed. | Tap Update now to open the store, or I already updated — check again once you have. |
Small fixes ship straight to your phone without a store visit — that's the Update ready prompt. Bigger changes need a real new build from the App Store or Play Store, which is what the other two prompts are for.
What the app covers
Three tabs, in this order:
- Inbox — your conversations. See Inbox.
- Visitors — who's on your website right now.
- Profile — your availability, appearance, and organization. It's a smaller version of the dashboard's User Settings.
The app covers replying to conversations and browsing visitors. A few things you'd normally reach for in the dashboard aren't here:
| Dashboard feature | On the phone |
|---|---|
| Closing or resolving a conversation | Not available |
| Sending a transcript to the visitor | Not available |
| Editing visitor details | Read-only — you can view and copy fields, not change them |
| Tickets | Not available |
| Reports | Not available |
| Settings (widgets, brands, billing, security, and the rest) | Not available |
For any of these, use the Dashboard Overview on the web.
