Autopilot
Let AI plan, write and schedule a brand's social posts on its own — written from the sources you tick for it, planned weeks ahead, and held for your approval by default.
What Autopilot Does
Autopilot runs per brand. It writes only from the sources you tick for it on the brand's Content sources page — the brand's knowledge bases, documentation, website pages and files, plus any sitemaps, feeds and URL lists you add there (products are never used for social posts). It plans posting slots on the days and times you pick and pre-generates full posts — captions, hashtags, image, first comment — over a rolling horizon (14 days by default), topping the queue up daily. Every post starts from an idea, and an idea that is nearly the same as one already made is caught before anything is written, so the feed doesn't repeat itself.
A "You're editing (brand)" card sits at the top of the page with the line "Every setting on this page belongs to this brand alone." A Switch brand button appears on its right only when the organisation has more than one brand. With no brand at all, the page shows "Create a brand first — Autopilot posts on a brand's pages, writing from that brand's own knowledge. Create one with + New brand in the sidebar, then come back here."
The Setup Wizard
The first visit to Marketing → AI Social Posting → Autopilot opens a four-step wizard: Intro → Schedule → Options → Review, plus an optional sample post. It generates nothing until you say so.
Intro
Explains what Autopilot is and checks that the brand has knowledge attached. If the brand has nothing attached, the blocking warning above appears here and you can't continue.
Set the schedule
Day-of-week pills, 1–4 posting times per day, and your timezone.
Options
It starts with What should it post about? — a tick list of the brand's sources with Tick all and Tick none. Nothing is ticked until you tick it, and Products can't be ticked. Sitemaps, feeds and URL lists are added later on the brand's Content sources page.
Below it come the autopilot-level seed defaults: approval mode (recommended on), image generation and model, watermark, Facebook/Instagram, first comment, post length and writing model. The first length choice is Standard — "How long the captions run. Leave it on 'Standard' and every slot gets the normal length." These are only starting points; per-slot config can override any of them later.
Review the honest numbers
Before anything turns on, the wizard shows exactly what you're signing up for: "~N posts generated over the next 14 days, topped up daily", the estimated image cost, and how publishing will behave.
Optionally, generate a sample post
The wizard can produce one real post through the exact Autopilot pipeline — with Autopilot still off. The sample lands in your review queue; approve it, generate another, or keep Autopilot off.
Enabling — from the wizard or later from the panel — always confirms with the post count and cost estimate first. If you finish the wizard with nothing ticked, the autopilot writes nothing until you tick sources on the brand's Content sources page.
What It Posts About
Autopilot writes only from the sources ticked for it on the brand's Content sources page. That page, not the Autopilot page, is where you tick them, add blogs and feeds, and see the ideas waiting and everything already written.
- The brand's knowledge. Each knowledge base and documentation set is its own source; the brand's website pages, and its files, text and Q&A entries, are one source each. Every published article, documentation page, Q&A entry, file, text snippet or website page in a ticked source is something Autopilot can write about. A knowledge base or documentation set you add to the brand later is not ticked automatically.
- Blogs, news pages and feeds you add. On the Content sources page, Add source takes a sitemap, an RSS / Atom feed or a list of page URLs. It doesn't have to be part of the brand's knowledge.
- Never products. The Products row can't be ticked for social posts.
On the Autopilot page, Card 1 Content & sources sums it up: a line saying how many knowledge sources facts and details are checked against (with a Change link to Knowledge), then Reads from N of M sources, N ideas waiting and Last written:. With nothing ticked it warns Nothing ticked yet — it will write nothing, and each run is skipped with a notification saying no content sources are ticked. Open content sources takes you to the Content sources page — opening it needs the Brands & chat widgets or the Content sources permission, so a team member with only Social Posting access sees the button but can't open the page. An autopilot set up before the Content sources page existed starts with every source except Products ticked.
Card 3 Per-slot content now holds output settings only. Each posting slot (a day × time) configures Facebook and Instagram separately (each with its own on/off switch) and can override length, text model, image model and watermark. Use Copy to other slots to clone one slot's setup across the week. What a slot posts about is no longer chosen per slot — every slot writes from the autopilot's ticked sources.
How Posts Are Planned
- Ideas first, then a fresh item: each open slot takes the next idea waiting for Social Posting on the Content sources page — your own ideas first, oldest first, then the ideas the autopilots made, newest first. When no idea is waiting, it picks a fresh item from its ticked sources (newer items are more likely to be picked, but it isn't strictly newest first), and AI turns it into an idea. The post then gets a rotating angle (tip, FAQ, use case, feature spotlight, myth-bust, behind-the-scenes, audience question) chosen to feel different from the last couple of posts.
- Each item once per round: once an item has been turned into an idea, it counts as used for the whole brand, so no autopilot picks it again until a new round starts. That happens only when every item in all the sources ticked for this autopilot is used — then all of them, including items you set aside, become available again.
- Grounding: the post is written from the idea and the content behind it — your facts, not generic filler.
- Broken pages heal themselves: if the page behind an item can't be read (say a sitemap URL that returns a 404), Autopilot quietly sets it aside and picks something else for the slot. Your own content with nothing readable shows as Skipped under Show items on the Content sources page and gets another chance in the next round; an idea whose page has disappeared is skipped too. Placeholder, legal and login pages never become ideas.
- Anti-repetition: repeats are caught when the idea is made. If a new idea is nearly the same as one already made in the current round — including a post you had the AI draft in the composer — Autopilot writes from the existing idea if it hasn't yet, or drops the new one and picks another item. If every idea it could draw from the ticked sources is already covered, paid generation pauses for a few days and you get a notification. New content in its ticked sources — say a new article, or a new sitemap or feed you tick for it — resumes it right away; otherwise it tries again by itself.
- Approval: with approval mode on (the default), every post parks in the review queue with its slot attached. With it off, posts schedule themselves.
Queue Rules Worth Knowing
| Rule | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Config edits | Affect future generations only — already-queued posts keep their content. |
| Regenerate a slot | Delete the queued post; Autopilot refills the slot on its next hourly run. |
| Late approval | Approving after the slot has passed publishes immediately; otherwise the post waits for its slot. |
| Disable Autopilot | Cancels posts still waiting to generate or waiting for approval; already-scheduled posts still publish at their time (cancel those individually). |
| No image generation | Instagram slots are skipped — Instagram requires an image. |
Costs
Autopilot bills like the composer: a fraction of a cent of text per post plus your image model's per-image price when image generation is on. The image estimate is computed from the per-slot image count — only slots that actually generate an image count toward it. The wizard and the enable dialog show the estimate up front, and the Upcoming posts strip on the panel always shows what's queued.
