Groups

Groups allow you to manually organize and categorize your subscribers into static collections that you control directly.

Creating and Managing Groups

Access Groups

Navigate to Newsletter → Subscribers → Groups to view all your subscriber groups.

Create a New Group

Click the "Create group" button to create an empty group that you can populate with subscribers.

Add Subscribers to Groups

After creating a group, add subscribers through:

  • Individual subscriber management (edit subscriber → assign to groups)
  • Bulk actions on the subscribers page (select multiple subscribers → "Add to group")
  • Import processes that include group assignment

View Group Statistics

Each group displays:

  • Subscriber count: Current number of members
  • Click rate: Average engagement percentage for group members
  • Bounce rate: Percentage of bounced emails for group members
  • Created date: When the group was first created

Group Management Actions

Rename Group

Change the name of any group to better reflect its purpose or organization.

Split Group

Divide a large group into multiple smaller groups by specifying how many groups to create.

Refresh Stats

Manually update subscriber counts and performance metrics for a group.

Merge Groups

Combine multiple groups into one, with options to keep or delete the originals.

Delete Group

Remove groups you no longer need. This action cannot be undone.

Working with Groups

When you click on a group name, you're taken to the subscribers page filtered to show only members of that specific group. This allows you to:

  • View all subscribers in the group
  • Perform bulk actions on group members
  • Export group-specific subscriber data
  • Manage individual subscriber details within the group context

Managing Group Membership

Groups require manual maintenance of their subscriber lists:

  • Add subscribers: Use bulk actions or individual subscriber editing
  • Remove subscribers: Use bulk actions to remove selected subscribers from groups
  • Transfer subscribers: Move subscribers between groups as needed

Group Statistics and Performance

Group statistics are automatically refreshed every 10 minutes, or you can manually refresh them using the "Refresh stats" action. This helps you track:

  • Group size changes over time
  • Engagement metrics specific to group members
  • Bounce rates and email deliverability issues

Splitting Large Groups

For better organization of large subscriber lists, you can split groups into multiple smaller groups:

  1. Select the "Split group" action for any group
  2. Specify how many groups to create (limited by current subscriber count)
  3. Subscribers are automatically distributed across the new groups
  4. Original group can be kept or deleted during the process

Groups vs Segments

While both groups and segments help organize your subscribers, they serve different organizational needs.

Groups - Manual Organization

Groups are manually curated collections where you explicitly add or remove subscribers. When you add new subscribers through imports or API calls, you must manually assign them to groups. Groups maintain the same subscriber list unless you actively change the membership - they're perfect for stable, targeted campaigns where you want consistent recipient lists.

Segments - Dynamic Filtering

Segments automatically populate based on filters you define. As your subscriber data changes, segments instantly reflect the current subscribers matching your criteria. You don't need to manually update segment membership - it's always current based on the filter rules you set.

Choose groups when you need stable, manually-controlled subscriber lists for targeted campaigns with consistent recipients. Choose segments when you want dynamic lists that automatically stay current with your subscriber data and behavior.
