What Discord integration does (and what it doesn't)
The Yaplet Discord integration is a notification system, not a two-way messaging channel. When events happen in Yaplet — a new chat starts, a visitor sends a message, or a ticket is created — a formatted embed is posted to a Discord channel of your choice. Agents click the link in the embed to open the conversation in the Yaplet dashboard and reply there.
There is no Slack integration. Discord is the only team notification platform Yaplet connects to.
Agents cannot reply to customers directly from Discord — all replies happen in the Yaplet inbox or mobile app.
Connect Discord to Yaplet
- Go to Settings → Organization settings → Discord integration.
- Click Connect Discord. You're redirected to Discord's OAuth2 authorization page.
- Select the Discord server you want to connect. You must have Manage Server permission on that server.
- Click Authorize. The Yaplet bot is added to your server with permission to send messages and embeds.
- Back in Yaplet, select the Notification channel from the dropdown — the text channel where alerts will be posted. Voice channels, categories, and forum channels are not listed.
Configure which events trigger notifications
Three notification events are available, all enabled by default. Toggle each one independently:
| Event | Triggers when |
|---|---|
| New visitor message | A visitor sends a message to a conversation that is waiting for a reply — whether or not an agent is already assigned to it |
| New chat created | A visitor starts a brand-new conversation |
| New ticket created | A new ticket is created in any board |
Each notification embed includes the relevant content (message text, ticket number) and a direct link to open it in your Yaplet dashboard. Phone conversations are the one exception: an AI voice call never produces a Discord notification, because a call would post one embed for every spoken turn.
Tips for a clean setup
- Create a dedicated channel like
#yaplet-alertsso notifications don't flood general chat. - Disable New visitor message if your team already receives push notifications on mobile — this event fires for every message in a conversation that is waiting for a reply, assigned or not, and can be noisy.
Remove the integration
- Go to Settings → Organization settings → Discord integration.
- Click Remove integration.
- Notifications stop immediately. The Yaplet bot remains in your server (you can kick it from Discord if needed).
Troubleshooting
- Notifications not appearing: Verify a notification channel is selected and the relevant events are enabled. Check that the Yaplet bot still has permission to post in the selected channel.
- Channel not in dropdown: Only text channels appear. If you just created the channel, refresh the settings page.
- Authorization failed: You need Manage Server permission. Ask a server admin if you don't have it.
